Roopkund lake situated in Uttarakhand state of India .It is famous for hundreds of human skeleton found at the edge of the lake .It is known as mystery lake,skeleton lake ,the riddle of skeletons place and also Rudra kind.
In 1940 or 2nd world war time this lake was found but still the mystery of the skeleton in this lake unsolved. Many myth heard for this location. One of the myth is the Goddess was thirsty and Lord Shiva hence strucked the ground by his Trishul(trident) for water. So this mountain name is Trishul mountain and Lord Shiva created two lakes and Goddess Parvati was drinking water from this lake. When she was drinking water her face saw in lake ,hence this lake known as Roopkund (means beauty lake).
Another myth is that the king of kanauj raja Jashdhaval and his pregnant wife went on a pilgrimage to Nanda Devi shrine and took along of servants,girls for entertainment,dance,music then Nanda devi Goddess summoned a violent hailstorm causes the death of all for this insolence of king. So it is called skeleton lake. From this time 9th century AD pilgrimage called Raj jar observed a festival in the honor of Goddess Nandadevi in Every twelve years and it takes about 22 days to complete.
Now a time to solve this mystery of nature many scientist studied but nothing is concluded yet.In August 2018 India government banned to visit this place but scientist are still allowed to solve this mystery.
The nature holds many secret that make us surprised and mysterious forever and Roopkund lake is among them.....
